About Jane’s Walk
In 2011, Colchester hosted the UK’s first Jane’s Walk weekend; two days of local walks led by local people, taking place simultaneously around the world, celebrating the legacy of urbanist Jane Jacobs (1916-2006), and 2017 marked the 101st anniversary of her birth and 11th year of the festival internationally.

Walk Colchester is grateful to the following for their support of Jane’s Walk Colchester: Colchester Borough Council (Festival Fund 2017), University of Essex and Mailboxes Etc. And of course to our team of volunteers and walk leaders who give their time and skills freely for this fantastic event.
“Some people like to make a little garden out of life and walk down a path”
(Jean Anouilh, 1910-1987)
